Terms of Service
Last updated: 21 July 2026
These Terms govern your use of God.co.uk. By using the site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
Who we are
God.co.uk is a trading name of Global Online Directory Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 03053178), with its registered office at 11 Goldlay Avenue, Chelmsford, Essex CM2 0TL.
The service
God.co.uk lets you ask questions and explore answers drawn from many faiths, philosophy and wisdom traditions, presented side by side. We may add, change or remove features at any time.
AI-generated content: important
Answers on this site are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain errors, omissions or views that do not represent any particular tradition or authority. They are provided for general information and personal reflection only, and are not professional, religious, medical, legal, financial or other advice, and are not endorsed by any religious body. Always use your own judgement and seek qualified guidance where appropriate.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the site for any unlawful, harmful or abusive purpose.
- Do not attempt to disrupt, overload, scrape or gain unauthorised access to the site or its systems.
- Do not submit content that is unlawful, infringing, hateful or that includes other people’s personal information.
Your submissions
When you submit a question, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to process, store, adapt and publish it (and the resulting answer) as part of the service. Do not submit personal or sensitive information, as approved content may be published publicly.
If you create a memorial or upload photos, you confirm that you own the rights to that content, or have permission from the rights holder to upload and publish it. You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, resize, display and otherwise use it as part of the service. If you believe content on the site infringes your copyright or other rights, contact us at contactus@god.co.uk and we will investigate and remove it where appropriate.
Payments, cancellation and refunds
Most of God.co.uk is free to use. Some things are paid for, and this section explains what you are buying and how to get your money back. Prices are shown in pounds sterling, and the price shown at checkout is the price you pay. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.
Keeping a memorial online
A memorial is free to create and free for 90 days. After 90 days, an unpaid memorial is hidden from public view. It is not deleted: you can still see it when signed in, and a one-time payment of £50 restores it and keeps it online permanently, with no subscription and no recurring charge. We will remind you by email before the free period ends.
Candles and other one-off purchases
A candle lit on a memorial costs £5, once, and remains lit. Other paid items are described and priced at the point of purchase.
Our refund policy
We will refund the £50 memorial payment in full, for any reason, if you ask within 30 days of paying. You do not need to explain why. Email contactus@god.co.uk from the address on the account and we will process it back to your original payment method. Refunds usually reach your account within five to ten working days, depending on your bank.
Candles are delivered immediately and are non-refundable once lit, unless something has gone wrong at our end, in which case tell us and we will put it right. If you are ever charged in error, or charged twice, we will refund it in full regardless of when you notice.
Your legal right to cancel
Because these are digital services supplied immediately, you are told at checkout that supply begins straight away and, by paying, you agree to it. That means the statutory 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 no longer applies once supply has begun. Our own 30-day refund policy above is offered voluntarily and is more generous than that statutory right. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 if a service is not carried out with reasonable care and skill.
If we ever close the site
If we ever have to stop running God.co.uk, we will give memorial owners reasonable notice and a way to download their memorial content before it goes offline. We would not simply switch it off.
Intellectual property
The site, its branding and its content (other than your submissions) are owned by us or our licensors and may not be copied or reused without permission.
No warranties
The site is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the site or its content will be accurate, uninterrupted or error-free.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the site or its content. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
Changes and contact
We may update these Terms from time to time. For any questions, contact us at contactus@god.co.uk.
